Spreading its wings, Netscribes has opened an office in Pune today. As we transcend an evolutionary shift from services play to knowledge consulting, the Pune office is an excellent fit in our business strategy. The new centre will function as a high-end hub for global clients in the areas of financial and business consulting, research & analytics, competitive intelligence and content management.
The launch comes amidst a multitude of activities that are underway at Netscribes. The business dynamics, coupled with the changing needs of our customers, have ensured that the pace of work at Netscribes remains aggressive as ever. The shift to knowledge consulting has also led us into different directions, each of which seems promising as we discover new business opportunities.
Netscribes has also recently launched a products section on its website. An internal discussion on how best we can share our knowledge and expertise across different markets led to creation of sector reports. Every sector snapshot will serve as a quick reference guide for companies looking at greenfield ventures. The underlying knowledge products strategy that powers this effort provides an excellent platform to share our research with the end users through a new channel.

This weekend would have been just like any other one - sleep late and get up even later. I was slightly miffed with the sudden thought of breaking this (ir)regular schedule by being one of the members of our CSR group that was planning to visit a homeless kids shelter at Mira Road. And of course, given the number of activities that I have participated in the recent past, there were bets in office on whether I will be able to make it ;-). But in the end, I knew that I will go, and so I was awake at 6am, getting ready to be there with the kids. We were scheduled to leave at 8.30am.

Vision in Social Arena (VISA), established in 1997 by Mr. John Abraham, is a charitable trust that looks after nearly 43 homeless children. This is not the popular John Abraham (actor) that we know of and who is covered by our dailies every now and then. Mr. John Abraham of VISA, however, is an icon in his own right. His vision of taking homeless children under his wing and taking care of their basic needs sets him apart from the lot, who are often too tied up with their own individualistic desires. It is heartening to see so much good in the world.
Netscribes, as a part of its corporate social responsibility activities, held a drawing competition for these kids and also treated them with gifts and food. The whole set of activities were not only fun but also fulfilling in their own way for each one of us. It was very different from what I thought it would be. And the kids were amazing - full of energy and fun. There were song and dance performances; and our cheerful gang of Netscribians indulged as well. Needless to say, this was a very humbling experience. It will be very satisfying to see these kids grow up and hold their own in the society. And I am sure, under the able guidance of Mr. Abraham, THEY WILL !!

I complete three years at Netscribes today. Most of my friends consider this to be an unbelievable milestone for any IITian - to be with the same firm for three years. And that too especially in the current job market when every company seems to be lapping up whatever it can lay its hands on. As for me, this is a decent personal benchmark on the way to bigger things.
I have continued to sharpen my learning curve, with a multitude of professional experiences that ranged from working on very diverse projects to varied softer issues. There has been a lot of work pressure - people have mixed feelings about this concept. Some consider this to be a sign of good times, whereas many others usually panic and throw in the towel. I am lucky to have a bunch of crazed mavericks with me, who continue to make work much more fun. At the same time, I miss my ex-colleagues, an equally eclectic group of people, who were instrumental in shaping my career in the early years in Netscribes.
As new responsibilities come, and as the markets change, it is good to see Netscribes’ flexible operating model. The flexibility provides the freedom to change and align the operating paradigms in accordance with our internal competencies and market trends. A recent internal assessment showed that we had unknowingly moved from project-based models to more consultative relationships with our clients. And the new Netscribes’ tagline - Knowledge Consulting & Solutions - embodies the same spirit.
We have finally managed to open a Netscribes center in Kolkata. After months of discussions and assessment, the opening of new center is a good achievement. I have been to Kolkata recently and liked the new office. As we continue to scale and build new service lines, we are looking at the Kolkata office to be instrumental in conquering unchartered waters.
There is a lot more to write but I prefer to keep the thoughts in my head for now. Here is looking forward to another great year at Netscribes. There is a lot of action and this definitely is a sign of good times.
