Nokia 6680

I finally bought the Nokia 6680 last week after a wait of nearly five months when I first read about Nokia introducing this model in 2005. In the meanwhile, I had been comparing the features of this phone with the others available in this category. And the flabbergasting revelation is that this phone rocks for sure!!! Armed with Bluetooth and EDGE GPRS functionality, the phone also supports 3G broadband networks. The phone has an internal memory of 10 Mb and a 64Mb RMMC card. The multimedia card can be replaced with a card having higher storage.

The dual camera phone features a back cover for the camera lens and flash, which gives the phone a very versatile look. The light sensor on the top does a good job of measuring the light intensity and accordingly changing the brightness of display, thus saving a lot of battery. The resolution of the back camera is great. The pictures come out really nice, even though the resolution is just 1.3 pixels. I did not like the resolution of the camera on the front, which takes pictures in VGA. The resolution leaves a lot to be demanding. And considering that 3G is still in its infancy in India, it would take some time to make good use of the front camera. But still, I think that this phone is future proof for now. I loved the imaging functionality, and the slide show display using the Image Manager, in particular. This particular features gives a really niche edge to this phone, as the pictures just slide across smoothly. However, the feature that really stands out is the full screen display of videos and pictures.

The stereo is also a lot better than the older models; songs and ringtones sound very well. The Symbian OS is much better and faster than the older models (I was using the Nokia 7610 before).

I think that this phone is the best example of an engineering masterpiece that offers very sophisticated technology combined with ease of use and extremely desirable design. Devices like it pave the way for transforming the way people live, work, play and communicate. I am still checking out the other features and will be posting more on that same. I am thrilled about this phone and ready to venture into deep exploration ;-).

    Hello,

I came across this posting doing a google search for the Nokia 6680. I currently own a Nokia 3660 and desire to switch to the Nokia 6680. I had a couple of questions which I hope you can answer, thus helping me in making a decision.

What is the price of this phone in India? How would you rate its performance and features? Is it easy to carry around?

    Thanks for your time mate.
